Happy Leap Year Day! One of the best holidays- gives you an extra day to do something out-of-the-ordinary. Plan accordingly & have fun!
Jesus Christ, Super☆02/12/2012 The Final Day of Detroit Institute of Art's much lauded Rembrandt exhibition is upon us. Having been a longtime fan of Rembrandt and his skills, I checked it out. It featured an exhaustive collection of Rembrandt's work depicting his version of Jesus, whom he modeled after his neighbor in Amsterdam. He is the first Western artist to portray Jesus as Jewish, vulnerable, and humble, establishing this collection as ground-breaking for these reasons. If I didn't know better, I would surmise that Rembrandt's self-portraits are modeled after Dylan- but that's impossible. [Just Like] Tom Thumb's Blues02/01/2012 The most amazing train exhibition ever. Located in Scranton, this miniature town is almost an exact replica of the 'Electric City.' This version is iced with a slight comic edge, courtesy of the architect, Don Clark. Kathy, (daughter of the late Mr. Clark) is extremely knowledgeable & is running the show. She points out interesting details, and gives great insight into the collection. She is also willing to share personal stories about her father and his obvious affection for model trains. Crystal Blu Persuasion01/30/2012 Motown Winter Blast is scheduled for February 10th-12th this year. Have fun! It Was a Good Day [aka 1.20.92]01/20/2012 Twenty years later... Ice Cube's infamous 'Good Day' now has a date. See the excellent breakdown on Murk Ave. Pretty thorough- very interesting. It's Ice.01/19/2012 The Plymouth Ice Festival will be held from January 20th thru the 22nd. This event features awesome ice sculptures that are on display throughout the weekend. The artists that create these pieces are extremely talented; the deftness and ingenuity necessary to fabricate the designs are impressive. |
