The Grand Trunk Pub is located in the heart of downtown Detroit, where it has been standing since 1879. It's a designated Michigan historical landmark.
Seeped in history, the building has seen many iterations. In the late 1800s, the building housed Traub Jewelers, one of the first jewelry shops in the city. The space was later converted into a ticketing office for the Grand Truck Railroad line circa 1910.
At some point, the building was rumored to contain a magic shop, operated by none other than legendary magician Harry Houdini.
The Metropole Hotel took over in 1935, turning the space into a bar. It has been a drinking establishment ever since. The stunning vaulted ceilings and historical architecture date back to 1879, and continues to inspire awe today.
It's currently a brew pub, and features microbrews produced locally and statewide.
