Farmer's Talk | Motin Presents a DIY Maple Syrup Workshop
Saturday. May 19 from 2-3
Every Spring as the silver buckets would make their appearance on the maples that grew alongside Miller Road, I would say to myself that someday I would make my own syrup. Someday is now.
A local urban farmer, Mr. Motin, is holding a demonstration about maple syrup production. He will explain the process, discuss techniques, and share a 'how-to' about making your own syrup.
Performance Potluck | Storytelling Potluck
Thursday, May 24 from 6-8
Whoever came up with this event = awesome! Get ready to have an interesting and meaningful dinner. Prepare a dish that has a personal story behind it. It could be your grandfather's goulash or a recreation of the dish you had at that Thai restaurant in LA- the one next to the junkyard, when the police stormed in through the back- but it was all just a great misunderstanding. Yeah- bring it to the potluck and share your tale with the other guests at the dinner party. Awesome, right!
Drive-In Radio Theatre | Presented by MOCAD
Wednesday, July 11 from 8-10, 5- Admission per Car
I am in love with the drive- in. And lately, there have been a ton of alternate options in how to view outdoor movies. I did especially love movies shown atop Brooklyn rooftops & now Detroit is hosting events with experimental concepts.
Experience hyper-local electromagnetism at its finest. Hosted by Jon Brumit, MOCAD's curator of public engagement, this is live performance, transmitted by radio into your car, and illuminated by your headlights. Stay all night, or peace out after twenty- your choice. The theme of this event is inspired by the Post Industrial Complex and Vertical Urban Factory exhibition in the museum gallery.
